Why I Loved Styling This Bottega Veneta Shot

Bottega Veneta is my favorite fashion tabletop brand to work with as a stylist. I haven’t been able to fully discern why it is that I love it so much, but there’s something about the geometric shape with the organic movement of their leather pouches that I cherish working with. I love all the colors, and as soon as I saw the combination of colors and products for this shot, I knew how to arrange them. Lately, I’ve really enjoyed creating stacks of products, and the shoe and bags in this shot just fit together like pieces of a puzzle.

So the composition of this photo came together immediately, the biggest challenge I experienced after that was wrangling in the straps of the round handbag and the leather shoes. I think at first, I tried to go very avant-garde/edgy with my strap styling, but the art director told me to reign it in. These straps are pretty structured and set in their ways, so it took some steaming and intention shaping to get them to curve in the organic way that you see in this shot.

The feedback I received for this shot echoed my own pleasure with it, but I still can’t articulate why. I end the end, it’s a stack of products, but I love it.
