How I Deliberately Styled This Photo to Feel Effortless

Sometimes shots come together effortlessly. This was one of them. The combination of having beautiful product, my choice of gauzy fabrics, and fresh(ish) flowers in the studio made styling this photo fun and easy. Lately, I’ve been trying to listen more to what the elements I’m using in my set design and the product want to do before I start fighting it, and it doesn’t always work, but in this case it did. My original intent was to lean the shoe on the bag, but when it slipped and hooked onto the strap of the bag, I left it.

The floral styling was more intentional. I had to deliberately understyle the flowers while keeping the shape of the arrangement in mind. Pulling the eucalyptus out was a deliberate act that was styled to look very careless.

One word on the composition of this photograph, on some branded images, we have to leave a lot of negative space for text to be later be added by the graphic design team. That’s why there is some much negative space on the right side of the shot. In this case, I’m not mad at it though; I think it adds to the bright airy mood for spring.
