I'm Sure I'll Find Out Soon
“WE’VE LIVED IN A HOTEL FOR 11 WEEKS,” said the woman I’d held the elevator for as the doors closed in front of us. She was carrying copious amounts of serveware and I’d only asked her what floor she was going to. She continued, “We sold our house, put all of our stuff in storage, and started looking for a house having no idea where we were going to live. Can you imagine?” I started to answer yes, but she continued on, apparently talking, but not to me in particular. As the doors opened to my floor, I desperately yelled, “We sold our house, put all of our stuff in storage, and don’t know where we’re going to live yet either!” She cocked her head to the side and looked at me for the first time. Then we began a rapid exchange of facts, feeling, and learned information. This lasted for five minutes, the doors of elevator repeatedly trying to close the entire time. When it was all over, we screamed well wishes at each other and we never saw each other again.
“Mike furrowed his brow, but said nothing.”
“I just met myself from the future,” I told Mike when I got back to the room.
“Oh yeah?” he said unsurprised, fully faithful and interested in my explanation.
“Yeah. She was just like me and she that she lived in the hotel for 11 weeks, which means we’re going to live her for 11 weeks.”
“Oh nice. That makes sense,” he said satisfied with my explanation.
Then, I added, “The thing that I don’t understand is how I end up with grandchildren?”
Mike furrowed his brow, but said nothing.
I’m still waiting on the answer to this, but we bought a house and our move out date is set 11 weeks after we moved into the hotel, so I’m sure I’ll find out soon.
