Art Direction
This gallery features photos that I art directed for home decor and furnishings websites and print publications. When I’m art directing, I really enjoy designing the mood boards that then become the sets for each season and working with the photographers to create seasonally appropriate lighting. The photo stylists that I work with bring the vision to life with their styling and propping. It’s so satisfying to see a shot go from concept to production to publication.
This shot was part of a Friendsgiving series that we photographed for our Fall catalog.
The photographer and the stylist worked very quickly on this on-location shot to capture this beautiful outdoor dining shot during the golden hour.
Love the the pile of pillows tumbling on the floor in this photograph. I had the stylist and photographer shoot this on a set that was already existing using the environment from another photo, and I think it did elevated what would otherwise be a simple soft goods shot.
This shot was part of our fall interior launch and featured new custom upholstery and art deco furniture including burl wood and brass. I worked with the prop stylist and set builder to create the fluted plaster wall with faux limestone finish, and it invoked a sense of understated luxury in the room that did not take away from the furnishings or decor.
The photographer did a great job creating dramatic, soft lighting that made this shot feel like Renaissance painting.
The stylist used minimal propping and an existing bedroom shot as environment for these decorative throw pillows.
A cozy conversation area featuring furniture for fall.
I love the simplicity of this photo; it really shows off the beautiful design of this bar cart.
This is a handheld detail photo of towel styled across a vanity chair.
Another beautiful and elegant photo of a bathroom that I designed to feel like a provincial French home to complement the design of the bathroom vanity.
This was a pretty shot that we composed on an already built art deco set, which gave the photograph a sense of environment.
The photographer created soft lighting on this set which gave the throw pillows in this photo which along with the art in the background, gave this image a romantic feeling almost as if it were a soft goods still life.
As art director, I worked very closely with the stylist on this photo because it was a challenge design a cohesive space the felt like a welcoming interior with a wide assortment of furnishings and home decor styles. In the end, it felt like an effortless coastal living room with modern furniture and hints of beachy accessories.
I enjoyed layering bedroom furnishings, rugs, art, drapery, lighting, decor, and rich textured bedding and linens in this shot.
I designed this set so that for the new lighting would really pop.
This is one of my favorite images from fall photography.
This photo is the result of a collaborative effort between the merchants, art director, and prop stylist to curate a living room that mixes different styles of furniture and decor while still feeling cohesive and telling a story.
